IT was Bill’ s 3rd Team, for me, that won the league & UEFA cup again in ’76 and then the league & “Big Ears” in ‘77..with Capt Emlyn, *(who was Shanks embodied on the field who lifted it again in ’78)
I was at the Molyneux stadium when about 20,000 REdS literally gate-crashed the last game of the 75/76 season to win 1-3 in the last 15 minutes, for me & Many Kopites still was Shanks squad

I was also at the ’74 cup final when the REdS blew away england’s “super macdonald” & a very strong Geordie side!, but it was the “coming of age” of the “Shankly phenomenon” playing “route 1” OR 20 odd passes to find the net…the maturity of a TEAM given the balance of discipline & freedom …
Shanks had already built up the MENTALITY in the club, throughout, youth, to first Team, and off – field staff at Anfield & Melwood too.. the KOP made up the HOLY TRINTY of Team, Shanks & SUPPORT were ONE! That basis stayed true & strong from 1964 to 1990.. and NONE of the modern achievements were possible without BILL!

Shanks had not given the “boot room boys” a chance when he took over in 1959 .. sure Bob…
Was very clever, and made additional astute signings & decisions he made were indeed canny…
However many trophies were won with Paisley, without the basis, the platform that Shanks enabled he would have been barely known in football history without Bill! So please don’t ever compare the trophy haul of the 2!
Shanks wrote in his bio, about the strain of fighting the Directors over almost every decision, and that they did not honour him with a boardroom role, post 1974, wll NEVER be forgiven by original kopites as myself, for Shanks suffered greatly from that dis-respect.
Joe was also under-rated, was a great servant prior to Bills resignation, and stepped up to help BOB, and that support should not go unmentioned in the ill-informed recollection of Bobs glorious phase as LIVERPOOL’s manager…

Just a reminder; City "got off" at CAS because they were able to argue the punishment UEFA gave them was too late for the offences claimed. And it was "too late" because City had spent literally years appealing both the investigation and UEFA's judgement. CAS expressly said they had a case to answer, but UEFA hadn't taken regard of their own time limitations (from the date of alleged offence ) for proscribing a punishment. I know City's PR machine has convinced a lot of people they were found "innocent" or "got off on appeal".. but they didn't. They just out-lawyered UEFA….

We spent £180 million last summer???!!! Really? So no mention of the players that were sold? Last summer was supposed to be the big rebuild? And whilst I really like the players we accept for endo. Rebuild? Not even close jurgen getting left short yet again! So all these FSG fanboys who will defend them with every ounce of their beings! It defies reality it defies what is really happening these vulture capitalists from Boston see LFC as one thing and one thing only? When we lost all of our main CB’s and had to pull our 2 main midfielders out of the middle and into the heart of the defence are you honestly trying to tell me jurgen was ok with who we signed in the next January window (Ben Davies and obazak)? We will see whether FSG really are the smartest people in the room when jurgen leaves? My guess is they won’t be that far behind him
