my almost instant reaction… 2-2 & another game that felt like a loss, yeah the 4-3 at OT seems to sewn doubts on & off the field…

the coaching change IMO is in their heads, I cant remember having such a situation on 50years where public were mass=debating the name of, and even negotiations concluding whilst the incumbent & his staff are still “responsible”,,,

Macca was fouled with an obvious OTT (Emerson?) after 5 mins (similar to Red card Curtis got at spurs?) no yellow card/// & I thought  xxxxcxx as Endo made a fail pass, Harv passed across the middle (foolish) & I worried but we steadily took the game, but for me Cody was too deep and attacked broke down despite possession as we had no target man…

Ryan was lively and pretending to be Darwin shooting from every angle, but again, don’t need to “break the net” was guilty too..  but the whole Team went to sleep to let wham score from the corner, basic error like Barca did in the semis 2019!

I prefer Macca at “6” .. I felt at times he was running the mid, but over played?  Was loose at the end, mis timed his last pass & got a yellow for trying to recover it…  MO ?  a little spat with JK is a sure sign all is not well in the dressing room for a squad that has had excellent TEAM spirit… I feel MO has suffered from the longest injury of his career, the disappointment from Egypt & some controversy with their coach, RAMADAN & surely any MUSLIM (not only a highly visible man) must have emotions attached to the genocidal massacre of over 10,000 GAZA kids..!

SUBS, was a weakness of JK before this season, to delay subs,   3 at 75 minutes is too LATE to have maximum effect, (maybe that’s what Mo said?)  and Dom at 90 mins? Please! Desperate.. OUR TEAMS learnt when I was a kid to keep on playing, with energy & fight for the whole match, I state & agree that this YOUNG  squad is “ahead of schedule” 

 

,, but came close to competing on all fronts..which means probably a missed opportunity … I am worried about what comes next & will campaign to remove fen way & launch a global share issue to the over 500 million Lfc followers worldwide!

‘86 after heysell ’85…

I prefer to go back to the days when the relations were closer between our REdS & the “blue bros” down the road,

I was based in London when the FA cup final in 86 came around, Eric called me the night before from L pool, said coming down with REdS & blues tonight for the game tomorrow, can we crash at your place?

I asked my then wife Jacqui “are u ok with Eric & co coming down tonight?” how many Eric?  “12!” … !  she asked where will they sleep?

We went to Wembey together 8 REdS & 4 blues.. … the underground train broke down half way “announcement; Technical problem, train delay” … the doors open & I drag  my group out & up the emergency stairs, *I knew London well, up to street level , where a couple of housewives were at the bus stop, with shopping bags.. along came a BIG double decker, as the door opened the conductuctor let on the ladies & shook his head at me? “oh no, no, no,  … “ I looked behind me and almost 100 had followed our group up to the bus stop… !

So I said to the driver “do you want to tell these guys we cant go to the final” anyway we packed the bus like sardines, went straight to Wembley almost without stopping, and got in 5 minutes before the start,  1-3 to the RedS, we were in the blues end,! “the stadium singing “Merseyside, Merseyside” …but didn’t see the blues in the pub after the game….

The relations soured during the 80s when SOME blues fans blamed REdS on the total European ban, I was at most away games back then but missed that final (I was also “lucky” to miss Hillsborough) the 80s were a change in the football atmosphere in general,  and OUR success meant that non REdS latched on to our aways, as we were often the ONLY club in the top European away games…  I ask..

 

*Why didn’t the Lfc Directors refuse to play at Heysell, when they knew it was decrepit? *did the fans cause the concrete stand to collapse>? NO! ..why did the stand collapse, ? argue the blues & UEFA “the lfc fans charged the Juve Ultras!” …why?  Because the Ultras were throwing bottles at the Lfc fans sharing a stand (without segregation) !

,,honestly. although there some “new fans” (many non scousers) for the first time at the ’85 final, I was often in the away end in those days, if the police didn’t stop bottles being thrown at me (as happened also in the ’84 final by Rome ultras at coaches containing male, female & kiddie fans) I would have charged too!  But we all know that UEFA didn’t like that LIVERPOOL, villa & N.Forrest had won 10 seasons in a row & had an excuse to stop the domination,,,

 almost Instant match reaction..

TRENT is world class... i actually EXPECTED that shot,

Good start, middle & finish, although I felt on 60 minutes it was time for a change..even though DioGOAL got the third.. players need half an hour to properly get into a game..

·         Lucho, Harv, & Ryan put in decent shifts , although its easy to forget how young Harv is , needed a tad more composure scuffed one chance & passed when he should have shot, will come good, Ryan probably at fault for slack tracking back for the f-ham goal.. defence did ok today & Jarell showed again that the mistake at OT hasn't hurt him..

·         Endo Ok, but got caught on the ball again. almost every game once.. just needs to remove that risk..

• DioGOAL. getting back, bit by bit, Cody did well.. Robbo almost there, just a couple of errors,
• We got through another difficult game, 1-3 & still "in the mix" considering no real "recovery time , travel back from bergamo, travel down to london.. the lads did well overall.!
• Disappointed for Kells now is benched, deserves better!

,,, the REdS now remind me of Shanks' 2nd side early 70s when the final pass, the shot, the decision was just off the the mark, came close to winning trophies then came of age in 73 winning League & UEFA double,., this is a young squad, surprised to have been in an outside chance , "loading Version 2,0" ...had a blip since OT, looked more solid, if only scored 10% more of the chances created would still be favourites for the Quad.. with World class Trent back & ability to put the ball on a sixpence from 50 yards.. .. cant really complain about the scoring overall though having almost 100 goals between the 5 forwards... injuries, & forced rotation causing a lack of momentum at this vital time, of course Mo stuck away the desired early goal but failed to make it 0-2 which I believe would have led to an aggregate victory,.,.,. but,, thats football sometimes you just need that "luck" ...extra luck on top of energy & confidence.. Credit will go to Atalanta, who were obviously schooled at H _ T to break up the REdS play, typical of an Italian side, "if you cant tackle the ball bring down the man" the REdS couldnt, & didnt have the energy in the 2nd half to overcome this, I woudl have changed for fresh legs at H-T when you can give clear instructions to 3 of 5 to go again...
